5 Word Impressions – 007 Special

Saturday, July 9th, 2016

Hey guys, I’ve watched every single 007 film, From the 1954 Casino Royale to Spectre, all in one big marathon and I have recorded my reactions for every one, all summed into 5 words each!

Are you ready? Go!

  • 1954 – Casino Royale (Barry Nelson): Engaging but ending’s cut short.

  • 1962 – Dr. No (Sean Connery): Testing their waters… get it?

  • 1963 – From Russia With Love (Sean Connery): The ending seemed very anticlimatic…

  • 1964 – Goldfinger (Sean Connery): The origin of the slapper!

  • 1965 – Thunderball (Sean Connery): A shplended dishplay of jetpacksh!

  • 1967 – Casino Royale (David Niven): They were clearly on drugs!

  • 1967 – You Only Live Twishe Twice (Sean Connery): Japan, Japanese Connery, Ninjas, Exploshions!

  • 1969 – On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (George Lazenby): Oddly my favourite so far!

  • 1971 – Diamondsh are Forever (Sean Connery): Some continuity, I like that!

  • 1973 – Live and Let Die (Roger Moore): Roger Moore: An amazing bond!

  • 1974 – The Man with The Golden Gun (Roger Moore): Awesome theme, even better movie!

  • 1977 – The Spy who Loved Me (Roger Moore): Jaws: An Awesome Bond Villian!

  • 1979 – Moonraker (Roger Moore): Plot holes and Movie Mistakes

  • 1981 – For Your Eyes Only (Roger Moore): Hold on, where are we?

  • 1983 – Octopussy (Roger Moore): Boring middle but epic end!

  • 1983 – Thunderball? Never Shay Say Never Again (Sean Connery): Thunderball remake? It’s different enough…

  • 1985 – A View to a Kill (Roger Moore): Maybe my favourite Moore film!

  • 1987 – The Living Daylights (Timothy Dalton): I’m liking Timothy Dalton’s Bond!

  • 1989 – Licence to Kill (Timothy Dalton): Stupid at times, but fun!

  • 1995 – Goldenwhy! Goldeneye (Pierce Brosnan): Fun, but Travelyn’s an idiot!

  • 1997 – Tommorow Never Dies (Pierce Brosnan): Probably my favourite bond film!

  • 1999 – The World Is Not Enough (Pierce Brosnan): Eh, the game was better.
  • 2002 – Die Another Day (Pierce Brosnan): Even Brosnan couldn’t save this… (SERIOUSLY, THIS FILM WAS A FUCKING DISASTER!)
  • 2006 – Casino Royale (Daniel Craig): They needed a good reboot!
  • 2008 – Quantum of Solace (Daniel Craig): They took …pointers… from Golfinger…
  • 2012 – Skyfall (Daniel Craig): Absolutely loved this film! Brilliant!
  • 2015 – Spectre (Daniel Craig): Epic! Officially my new favourite!

Stats/Trivia:

  • Favourite Bond: Pierce Brosnan (2nd: Timothy Dalton)
  • Least Favourite Bond: Daniel Craig (2nd: George Lazenby)
  • Favourite Film: Spectre (2nd: Skyfall)
  • Least Favourite Film: Die Another Day (Ironic, eh?) (2nd: Quantum of Solace)
  • Favourite Bond Villans: Jaws and Oddjob

Whew! It feels like forever since I started this marathon, it’s literally taken me weeks, but I’ve come out feeling somewhat satisfied, and I have new bits of trivia, like Spectre being the first Bond film to be partially recorded in Vatican City, and the Soviet Union was probably the most involved country in the series, most of the old films have at least one scene set there or have that place involved in something!

So… now what? Hmm, Maybe go and watch something smaller, like Hannibal Lecter? Wallace and Gromit? Ghostbusters? Who knows? Who cares?
